Expressing Emotions: Arrogance

A little bit of arrogance may seem okay, but when exaggerated, it can easily escalate to ugliness. I have given examples below, which describe arrogance, but it's in your capabilities to decide to use the example that best fits your scene.

  1. She swaggered/strutted into the room (A dominating body language that’s more on the cocky side)
  2. She pointed a finger at his chest as she walked off
  3. He waved her off with a flick of the finger
  4. Dropping names out of context
  5. Can laugh at others but never at themselves
  6. Can’t admit their errors
  7. Can’t spend time with themselves
  8. Can’t be kind to themselves let alone others
  9. She had an answer for everything. Such was her arrogance
  10. He interrupted her talk, frequently
  11. She leaked out a cocky grin at him
  12. Her eyes were filled with disdain as her gaze shifted to him
  13. He blasted/mouthed-off his contestants for no real reason
  14. Always tries to have a strong posture when they want to show off
  15. Subtle eye contact but not for too long (like a glance with intent)
  16. Chin tilted up (Jutting chin)
  17. Head held up high
  18. Standing with their arms crossed across the chest (standoffishness during work etc)
  19. Hands placed on the hips
  20. Leans in to others than meet them on their level
  21. His thinking or personality is rigid (lack of confidence)
  22. Never tries to look at things for what they are (their rigidness is the culprit)
  23. Not even keeping in mind what sort of facial expressions you’re making; not bothering to read others facial expressions
  24. Eye rolling
  25. Half-closed eyes
  26. Raised eyebrows
  27. Pursing lips
  28. Head tilt (prolonged); exposing the neck
  29. Looking down, face turned away
  30. Leaning backward in the chair
